Elboya Students Making a Difference - October 31, 2014

Elboya students helped make Hallowe'en special for students in Ronald McDonald House by filling socks with candy.

Here is the response:
Dear Elboya School,
I wanted to extend my gratitude for not only planning the Halloween socks but implementing it so well. Our kids went trick-or-treating throughout the House on Friday morning. The entire staff were dressed up by department (fundraising was Canada themed!). There were kids that are barely talking yet with excited grins on their faces. They went to every single office and received candy … and then, they went to the craft room where they got a Halloween sock!
It was such a great way for them to end their trick-or-treating! Unlike a neighbourhood where you go until your pillowcase is full, there are only so many staff here. That extra added candy really made a huge impact.

In the afternoon I was in our dining room and a young boy who is living here with his mom and two premature brothers grabbed my hand and said “you HAVE to see how much candy I have!!! You won’t believe it.” He then put the stocking on the dining room table and said “Look how much is in here!”

Although it’s just candy I hope that you, the staff and students at Elboya know that you truly made a difference in these families' lives. The parents were overwhelmed with the generosity and these kids now have an awesome memory of this Halloween.

Thank you again for your generosity and time.
Have a wonderful week,
